Jake Davis is the passionate talent-seeker for the Davis Concert
Staging Company (DCS) and its vice president. “I’m constantly
seeking new talent and performers for DCS events, as well as
booking them,” explains Jake, a devoted fan of music.
DCS promotes and hosts live music events for various charities.
Its most recent project was the 2008 ThanksGIVING Festival in
Marlton, which drew about 850 patrons to see five local bands.
The happy result in these daunting economic times: $7,000 raised
for charities like Operation Gratitude and Toys for Tots.
In addition to his work with DCS, Jake is also a full-time
student in an MBA program at Drexel University, and manages
to socialize through introductions from friends, and by meeting
people in classes and at work.
While marriage is a distant prospect, Jake knows that when
it comes time to find Ms. Right, she will be smart, and, from all
indications, a deeply caring person who can share his
commitment to helping others.
And his idea of a perfect date?
“Definitely a concert!”
Ben, 23
Friends, and friends of friends – those are the sources Ben Davis, of
Marlton, uses to meet potential dates. “The Internet hasn’t really
affected my social life – I’m not a Facebook stalker,” says this genial
young man who, along with his brother Jake began the nonprofit
organization Davis Concert Staging.
Along with his full-time systems engineering job at a small software
company – Ben’s day job – this ambitious young man is pursuing a
master’s degree in information systems at Drexel’s online iSchool
program. He is also the assistant coach to the Jaguars ice hockey club.
So socializing takes a back seat to work much of the time, although
Ben is certainly looking for a committed relationship and marriage in
the future. He expects the time will come when he meets a woman
with a great sense of humor and a great personality. And he wouldn’t
mind if she’s also good looking.
“But I’m reallly committed to DCS and our upcoming projects,”
notes Ben. “For now, I’m very proud of our work, which is strictly
volunteer – there’s no compensation involved,” says Davis. “But
doing good feels good.”
